Hampir semua pengungsi muslim Rohingya di kamp penampungan Kutupalang, Bangladesh, menderita sakit. Laporan reporter Arab News menyebutkan, selama perjalanan mengungsi dari Negara Bagian Rakhine, Myanmar, mereka harus melewati medan yang tidak mudah dan kondisi alam tidak bersahabat. Anak-anak di pengungsian juga menderita kurang gizi.
Zaid Alam, 45 tahun, tadinya seorang petani kaya di Desa Kumarkhali, Rakhine. Dia tiba di Kutupalang kemarin pagi tanpa membawa apa-apa.
Alam mengatakan selama melintasi perbatasan menuju Bangladesh dia dan 13 anggota keluarganya harus bersembunyi di gua untuk menghindari kejaran tentara Myanmar. Dikutip dari laman Arab News, Selasa (5/9), mereka berjalan kaki siang malam tanpa makanan dan minuman memadai. Selama sepuluh hari mereka berjalan kaki sejauh 175 kilometer dan hanya memakan daun-daunan.
Sayid Nur, 22 tahun, yang sebelumnya tinggal di Desa Shahab Bazar, Rakhine, juga menceritakan kisah serupa. Petani miskin itu tiba di Kutupalang dengan luka tembak di tangan kirinya. Dia mengungsi bersama empat anggota keluarganya. Empat temannya di desa tewas dibunuh tentara Myanmar.
"Saya beruntung. Atas rahmat Allah Yang Maha Kuasa saya bisa menyelamatkan diri," ujar Nur yang berjalan kaki selama enam hari untuk tiba di Kutupalang. Dia sampai di pengungsian lima hari lalu. Selama di perjalanan Nur juga harus bersembunyi di gua untuk menghindari tentara Myanmar.
Selama enam hari di perjalanan keluarganya hanya berbekal 2 kilogram beras. Nur tiba di Kutupalang bersama keluarganya juga dengan tangan kosong. Ketika ditanya apa yang selanjutnya akan dia lakukan, Nur hanya menjawab, "Saya tidak tahu. Hanya Allah yang bisa menolong kami."
Sejak peristiwa penyerangan pos polisi akhir bulan lalu, militer Myanmar dan warga sipil bersenjata memburu warga Rohingya dan membakar desa-desa mereka.
Kelompok pembela hak asasi Human Right Watch menyerukan pemerintah Myanmar untuk mengizinkan pemantau independen menyelidiki peristiwa kekerasan di Negara Bagian Rakhine yang menimpa warga muslim Rohingya.
HRW juga merilis sejumlah foto memperlihatkan sejumlah desa di Rakhine musnah dibakar.
"Foto satelit terbaru ini memperlihatkan musnahnya sebuah desa muslim dan ini menandakan parahnya kerusakan di Rakhine, bahkan bisa jadi lebih buruk dari yang dibayangkan," kata Direktur HRW untuk Asia Phil Roberteson dalam pernyataannya, seperti dilansir laman CNN, Senin (4/9).
Pada 27 Agustus lalu militer Myanmar dan warga lokal bersenjata diduga menggelar operasi besar-besaran pembantaian terhadap muslim Rohingya.
"Pembantaian itu berlangsung kira-kira selama lima jam--dari pukul 14.00 hingga 19.00," kata laporan Fortify Rights.
