Kelompok militan Rohingya menamakan diri Tentara Penyelamat Rohingya Arakan (ARSA) menyatakan gencatan senjata sepihak selama satu bulan. Hal itu dilakukan dengan maksud buat memberi jalan pengiriman bantuan kepada korban konflik di Negara Bagian Rakhine.
Dilansir dari laman Al Jazeera, Minggu (10/9), ARSA mengajukan gencatan senjata itu Sabtu kemarin dan mulai berlaku hari ini. Mereka juga meminta pasukan Myanmar (Tatmadaw) sementara meletakkan senjata.
"ARSA meminta semua pihak mementingkan relawan buat kembali membantu para korban krisis kemanusiaan, tanpa melihat perbedaan etnis atau latar agama mereka selama gencatan senjata," demikian pernyataan disampaikan ARSA.
Hanya saja sampai saat ini belum diketahui dampak dari gencatan senjata diajukan ARSA. Sebab, perlawanan kelompok itu terhadap militer Myanmar juga tidak terlalu gencar. Militer Myanmar juga belum merespon gencatan senjata, tetapi mereka kemungkinan besar tidak bisa menolak. Sebab banyak kelompok relawan kemanusiaan di Rakhine menyatakan apa yang dilakukan tentara Myanmar lebih mengarah kepada aksi pembersihan etnis, ketimbang operasi militer.
Perwakilan Federasi Palang Merah dan Bulan Sabit Merah Dunia (IFRC), Joy Singhal, mengatakan gencatan senjata akan membantu pekerjaan mereka mengirim bantuan ke Rakhine jika dilakukan kedua belah pihak. Dia mengatakan IFRC mengambil alih pekerjaan pengiriman bantuan ke Rakhine setelah Program Pangan Dunia Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa terpaksa menghentikan sementara kegiatan mereka, sebab pemerintah Myanmar menuding kalau PBB membantu pemberontak.
Singhal mengatakan pemerintah Myanmar mengundang mereka buat mengirim bantuan. Namun, hal itu harus dilakukan di bawah pengawasan pemerintah Myanmar, sehingga banyak orang Rohingya khawatir mereka tidak bakal menerima bantuan.
"Kami meminta keamanan di jalur pengiriman bantuan. Sebab kami bakal mengirim makanan, air minum, dan transportasi bagi orang-orang ke wilayah lebih aman," kata Joy.
