Dr Rita menuturkan pertolongan pertama untuk demam berdarah adalah memberikan cairan, mau jus jambu, sari kurma atau angkak yang terpenting memberikan cairan ke dalam tubuh. Lalu pantau pada hari ketiga dan kelima yaitu saat masa kritis.
Hal ini karena pada orang demam berdarah terjadi kebocoran di pembuluh darah sehingga harus diberikan banyak minum untuk mengganti cairan agar trombosit tidak makin turun. Tapi pemberian cairan ini jangan dipaksa hanya sekuatnya saja.
"Pada hari kelima trombosit akan naik sendiri meski hanya minum air putih, karena tubuhnya sudah bisa memperbaiki diri sehingga kadar trombositnya naik. Tapi kalau virusnya ganas maka kebocoran bisa parah dan harus dirawat di rumah sakit," ungkapnya.
Dr Rita menjelaskan dalam menangani kasus demam berdarah hanya perlu bermain dengan cairan, saat terjadi kebocoran harus banyak minum, tapi saat kebocorannya sudah selesai maka dalam waktu 2x24 jam asupan cairan harus dikurangi.
Berikut ini beberapa hal yang bisa dilakukan sebagai bentuk pertolongan pertama terhadap penderita demam berdarah yaitu:
1. Memberikan minum sebanyak mungkin.
2. Kompres agar panasnya turun.
3. Memberikan obat penurun panas.
4. Jika dalam waktu 3 hari demam tidak turun atau malah naik segera bawa ke rumah sakit atau puskesmas.
5. Jika tidak bisa minum atau muntah terus menerus, kondiai bertambah parah, kesadaran menurun atau hilang maka harus dirawat di rumah sakit.
Demam berdarah adalah penyakit yang disebabkan oleh virus dengue dan ditularkan oleh nyamuk aedes aegypti.
